BOCA GRANDE, Fla. -- An animal cruelty investigation is underway in Boca Grande after a bird was found injured by a blow dart.
It happened on 1st Street in front of Boca Grande Island School.
According to a Lee County Sheriff's Office, a citizen notified a deputy about the bird, a white heron, on Saturday after it was found with a dart in its leg and appeared to be paralyzed and couldn't move.
A citizen removed the dart and it was taken to the Wildlife Center of Venice.
FWC was notified of the incident and took over the investigation.
