COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. -- Wildlife officials say a Florida panther had to be euthanized this month due to a medical condition being found in panthers in bobcats in the area.

According to Florida Fish and Wildlife, the adult female panther was seen on trail cameras to exhibit signs of deteriorating health. The panther was removed from the wild to receive a full examination by wildlife veterinarians.

Due to the animal's poor condition and unlikelihood that it would recover, the decision was made to euthanize her.

Back in August, FWC reported a mystery affliction affecting panthers which causes them to have trouble using their hind legs.
