FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Lee County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit assisted FWC biologists with the rescue of an 800-pound manatee who was wedged in the mangroves.

The manatee was badly dehydrated and starving due to it being stuck for several days.

The manatee will have a long road of recovery according to the Sheriffs.

The manatee was relocated to the Tampa Zoo for care.
