Candidates react to Rubio's boots

NAPLES, FLA - The media has been going head over heels about a picture of presidential hopeful Marco Rubio wearing a trendy pair of high-heeled boots - and other Republican candidates have been stepping in with their own comments.

Carly Fiorino tweeted a picture of her own 3 and a half inch heels with the comment, "But can you rock these?"

Senator Rand Paul chimed in when he posted a video of himself in front of a rack of women's shoes, saying, "I'm trying to choose some shoes. We've seen Rubio has those cute new boots and I don't want to be outdone."

Scott Lepore, president of the Collier County Republican Club, would like to see the candidate's conversations stay in the political arena.

"Why aren't we having real conversations in this country about the problems we have?" Lepore said. "Marco Rubio's boots are not the problem in this country right now."

Lepore believes that issues like immigration and veteran care should be taking center stage, not Rubio's fashion sense.

"We don't really seem to be protecting the United States of America right now; our veterans are being treated extremely poorly, yet we want to have a conversation about Marco Rubio's boots," Lepore said.

"I think it's just maybe to look to gain an inch or two on some of the other candidates," said Joe DeVito, while shopping on 5th Avenue South. "Literally, if not figuratively."
