School lockdown lifted at Lehigh elementary

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. -- Deputies have reopened G. Weaver Hipps Elementary after a precautionary lockdown was implemented Tuesday.

According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, the school was locked down after a report of a "suspicious person" in the area of the campus, located on Homestead Road in Lehigh Acres.

The situation was investigated, and the lockdown was lifted at 1:20 PM.

Activities have returned to normal at the school.
