LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Investigators say the woman pictured here slyly took the wallet of an 85-year-old woman when she placed it on a counter.

It happened Monday morning at the Publix in North Fort Myers at the intersection of Del Prado Boulevard and U.S. 41.

According to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, the victim left her wallet on the counter when she paid for some items, but didn't realize it until later when she went to pay for the cab.

A review of the store's surveillance system found a female suspect, who was seen placing her purse on top of the victim's wallet, then placing the wallet inside the purse.

NOTE: The woman in these images claims innocence and is speaking to investigators in an effort to clear her name.

The wallet contained cash, a social security card, a food stamp card, and a spare key to her home.

Anyone with information on the identity of the wallet thief is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).  All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.  Tips may also be made online at www.southwestfloridacrimestoppers.com or by texting a tip to CRIMES (274637) Keyword: REWARD.
