Services planned for late firefighter next week

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Funeral arrangements have just been set for a Bonita Springs firefighter whose life was recently cut short by a hunting accident in Charlotte County.

58-year-old Captain Paul Phillips, an eleven-year veteran with the department, died Sunday night after falling from a tree stand while hunting with his son. He leaves behind a wife, three children, grandchildren, and a team of firefighters.

The viewing will be held Monday, December 28th at Christ Community Church (4050 Colonial Boulevard in Fort Myers) from 3-8pm.  The funeral will happen at 11am the next morning, followed by a processional to Fort Myers Memorial Gardens (1589 Colonial Boulevard) and a gravesite service.

The processional will be led by LCSO and Bonita Springs Fire District, during which Captain Phillips will be transported in the District’s Antique Fire Engine.

Flowers can be sent starting Monday 12/28 to Christ Community Church at 4050 Colonial Blvd in Fort Myers

The Fire District has set up a Go Fund Me Page In Memory of Captain Phillips.
