Several people in custody after SWAT call out in Punta Gorda

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. -- Investigators in Charlotte County are interviewing several people who were taken into custody Tuesday morning after a SWAT incident.

According to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded at 2:22 a.m. to a report of a disturbance with gunshots fired in the 8000 block of Riverside Drive.

The caller was found to be uninjured, and at least three other people were reported to be in the residence. Since contact could not be made with the individuals, a Special Weapons and Tactics Team was activated and responded to the scene.

At approximately 06:50 am, all people involved in the event were in custody and being interviewed regarding the incident.

An investigation is ongoing to determine what transpired prior to the arrival of Sheriff's Deputies.

There were no injuries reported to any of the parties involved. There was no immediate danger to the general public.
