A man who fired into an unoccupied Collier County Sheriff's Deputy vehicle at Mercato Mall has been arrested.

22 year-old Stefan Morales is facing charges of shooting into an unoccupied vehicle, and possession of a concealed firearm.

Shoppers at the upscale Naples mall were surprised to hear about gunshots being fired at the posh plaza.

"It just always seems like its someplace else. It seems very unusual," said Donna Lakowski.

The shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. Saturday. According to the Collier County Sheriff's Office, Deputies working at Blue Martini heard the gunshots and later discovered the damage to two vehicles parked in the Mercato parking garage.

Investigators say a single bullet struck both vehicles, which were parked adjacent to one another.

No one was injured in the shooting; however, that didn't take away from the dark nature of the crime to shoppers.

"I didn't expect any violence of that nature, it's very surprising," said Jean Claude Christler.
