Sievers investigation takes national headlines

Posted

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. - People across the country are wondering what's next in the investigation into the murder of beloved doctor Teresa Sievers. This week, Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott addressed those concerns on HLN's Nancy Grace.

Concerns stemming from the bombshell details included in hundreds of documents released by the State Attorney's Office that implicate Sievers' husband Mark in her murder.

Sheriff Scott said the only thing more critical than making an arrest, is making the arrest appropriately so it stands through the trials of court. He said they're not done investigating Mark's involvement. "Sievers' husband is in an envelope of suspicion.  I've referred to it as an envelope of suspicion."

With two men charged and the investigation still active, Scott  shared, it's clear that those responsible for this heinous crime never expected to be where we are now.  "There's no question that these folks went to great lengths to cover their tracks, so much so they didn't anticipate being caught and didn't have much of a plan when things started to unravel."

Now that they have unraveled, he says he has everyone right where he wants them. "They're not able to communicate with each other anymore. Those channels of communication have been cut off, so as a result the old saying about snakes biting each other will come to fruition."
