An estimated 125 people walked throughout Charlotte County Saturday in support of the 8th annual St. Vincent de Paul Walk For The poor.
The fundraiser goes toward helping the needy in the area.
Members began walking at Laishley Park Pavilion in Punta Gorda and proceeded across the U.S. 41 bridge walkway.
“Our ultimate goal at SVDP is to identify people who are sincerely interested in breaking the cycle of poverty and maintaining a better life for themselves and their families,” said Cathy McKenna, president of the District Council. “A hand up, not a handout!” St. Vincent volunteers serve as mentors to guide them.
