1-year-old Central Florida boy dies after being hit by car

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. --- A little boy is killed in Pasco County on Tuesday after getting hit by a truck. 

According to Florida Highway Patrol, Efrain Figueroa-Rivera, 52, was driving a 2012 Chevy truck eastbound on Moog Road in Holiday, Fla., when Jayden Joseph, 1, ran out of his home through an open door. 

Investigators say the little boys father, Frantz Joseph, 26, ran after him soon after exiting the home, but wasn't able to catch him before the 1-year-old was hit by the vehicle. 

The little boy was transported to Florida Hospital North Pinellas where he later died from his injuries. The boys father, Frantz Joseph, was also hit by the truck and was taken to the hospital, where he's recovering.  

There are no pending charges at this time.
