Three special needs students and two adults were rescued from a school bus that was taking on water in Venice on Monday morning.

Venice Police responded to the scene and assisted in rescuing everyone aboard the bus.

Sgt. Ron Perisho says the incident happened in the 700 block of E Venice Avenue shortly after 7 a.m.

The students are all in high school and are reportedly okay.

Due to street flooding, E. Venice Avenue between US 41 Bypass and Bay Indies is now partially closed. Motorists are advised to drive with caution and avoid the area.
