Boy who saved brother from fire to be honored

Posted

BUNNELL, Fla. (AP) - A 7-year-old boy is being called a hero for saving his younger brother from a fire that began in their central Florida home sometime after their father died.

The Flagler County Commission and state fire marshal's officials plan to recognize Miller Clayton for his bravery following the Nov. 29 fire at their home in Bunnell.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports the boy got his 4-year-old brother Luke Clayton safely out of the home. Investigators say their 41-year-old father Kevin Clayton killed himself.

The fire marshal's office is investigating. Officials don't believe the fire was intentional.

The boys, their older brother Kevin Lee and mother Ann Clayton also lost their home in the fire. Donors have given more than $20,000 to help. Their mother says the boys are in counseling.
