MIAMI, Fla. — A Florida police officer has been relieved of duty after a video surfaced appearing to show him kicking a handcuffed man in the head after the man was already on the ground.

The video, obtained by ABC News, was posted to Facebook on Thursday. It shows a city of Miami police officer handcuffing the man on the ground. Moments later, a second unidentified officer runs over and appears to kick the man in the head. The second officer then appears to jump on top of the man, while slamming his head to the ground.

According to WPLG, the incident took place Thursday morning at the Culmer Place Apartments in the 600 block of N.W. 10th Street.

Miami Police Chief Jorge R. Colina announced that the officer seen in the video was relieved of duty Thursday afternoon.

"Today, the City of Miami Police Department received a video of an incident involving one of my officers. The video depicts a clear violation of policy. The officer has been relieved of duty," Colina said.

Colina says that the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s office has been contacted in regards to the incident.
