SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) - Police are trying to determine whether an ambulance crew was targeted during an early morning call.

Sarasota police spokeswoman Genevieve Judge said in an email that a crew from the Sarasota County Fire Department responded to a call around 4 a.m. Monday. A resident at the address told the crew they didn't call them. As the crew returned to the ambulance, someone fired a shot at the vehicle.

Judge says the two paramedics were in the truck when several shots were fired, and they were able to drive away. No one was injured.

She says the suspect was wearing a hooded shirt.

An investigation continues.
