MIAMI (AP) - Authorities say a jogger was seriously injured on a South Florida causeway when she was hit by a flying tire.
The Miami Herald (http://goo.gl/k08QTa) reports that a semitrailer lost two tires Monday morning on Rickenbacker Causeway.
Miami Fire Rescue Capt. Ignatius Carroll says one tire bounced and hit two people on a sidewalk, leaving one woman hospitalized in serious condition. The woman's fiancé suffered scrapes and bruises.
The truck's driver was eventually flagged down, but he told authorities he had no idea he had lost the tires.
Carroll says the fire department has never dealt with a situation like this before.
