TAMPA, Fla. — A grieving Tampa woman was left feeling puzzled when her brother told her he was going to go with a new look on the morning of their grandmother's funeral.
Kyle Ziegler had been growing out his hair for about four years and over the course of that span, his sister Amanda said friends and family often teased Kyle whenever he rocked a manbun.
"He would just shrug it off," Amanda said.
After Kyle and Amanda's grandmother, Gloria, passed away in 2019 at the age of 90, Kyle told his sister he was going to finally cut his hair. Amanda couldn't help but ask why now.
"It’s then he told me, 'A few years ago, Grandma was obsessing over my hair. She said when she passes, she wants to be buried with a beautiful, full head of hair like mine,'" Amanda recalled.
Amanda said her brother's wholesome response brought her to tears and she begged him to have his hair chopped off properly at a salon. He agreed, but he wanted to surprise the rest of the family.
"We know that’s not exactly what our Grandma meant but the gesture and thought meant the world to him," Amanda said. "And is exactly how my family would joke around."
Amanda shared this video on social media of Kyle cutting his hair. It now has more than 2.2 million views on TikTok.
"I was speechless knowing people see just how amazing of a brother, son, and grandson he truly is," Amanda said.
