TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida schools are now required to teach students about mental health for at least five hours.

The new part of the curriculum would start in sixth grade.

Students have to take courses to help them identify signs and symptoms of mental illness, find resources, and help peers who are struggling with mental illness.

The finalized policy doesn't state when it will be implemented though.
