Multiple vehicle crash leaves one child dead

A multiple vehicle crash that took place on Lee Boulevard and Sunniland took the life of a 9-year-old girl.

It happened around 9:30 p.m. Saturday night.

A report states that a vehicle traveling eastbound on Lee Boulevard turned left toward Sunniland Boulevard and entered into the path of a second vehicle. The passenger side of the first vehicle, carrying the child, was struck.

The second vehicle rotated clockwise after the collision and came to rest in the center lane of Lee Boulevard and was then struck by a third oncoming vehicle.

A child in the rear passenger-side seat, 9-year-old Nathalie Peffley, was transported to Lee Memorial hospital, and later died due to her injuries.

A report states that Peffley was not secured in the vehicle with a seatbelt or any child restraint.

Two other adults and another 9-year-old in the car all suffered serious injuries and were taken to Lee Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The drivers of the other two cars suffered minor injuries.

No charges have been made at this time.
