HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. -- Emergency crews have rescued a man whose sailboat caught on fire.

The vessel went up in flames near Hallandale beach, just north of Miami, Thursday morning. Firefighters and the coast guard went there after receiving a mayday call.

The captain of the 41-foot sailboat jumped into the water after it burst into flames.  The captain was headed home to the Chesapeake Bay area.
