FLORIDA - Officials with the National Weather Service have confirmed that two tornadoes touched down on the east coast today -- one in Coconut Creek, and another near Broward College.

The Coconut Creek tornado was given an EF-1 rating with winds up to 100 mph. The National Weather Service reports the tornado was on the ground for about six minutes and traveled a little more than two miles. In that time it overturned a semi on the Florida Turnpike, officials say the strong winds actually picked it up and dropped it in the northbound lanes.

Officials also say condo complexes near Broward College sustained roof damage, and at least six cars were tossed around in the college's parking lot.

Only one person suffered minor injuries.
