Tortoise stolen from ZooWorld in Panama City Beach

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A red-legged tortoise valued at about $200 has been stolen from ZooWorld in Panama City Beach.

The Panama City News Herald reports (http://bit.ly/2cX3YFR) that the tortoise went missing on Saturday.

According to a report from the Bay Sheriff's Office, a ZooWorld employee told authorities she was returning from lunch Saturday and saw a Hispanic man running out of the zoo and holding something in his arms covered in fabric. The said the man got into a black SUV that sped off.

During an animal count later that day, the employee said she realized the man might have taken the tortoise.

The man is described as being about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a skinny build and long hair in a ponytail.

Zoo World couldn't be reached for comment.
