LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a child is among four people killed in a seven-vehicle crash on Interstate 4 in central Florida.

Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Steve Gaskins tells local media the crash happened Tuesday morning when an eastbound pickup truck clipped another vehicle as it changed lanes.

Gaskins says the truck veered into a median, crashed through a cable barrier and continued into the westbound lanes near Lakeland. The driver and passenger in the truck were both ejected. They died at the scene.

He says excessive speed could have been a factor in the crash.

Gaskins didn't know the age of the child who died. There were no details on the number of people injured in the crash.

I-4 runs between Daytona Beach and Tampa.

No further details were immediately available.
