TRENTON, Fla. — Two deputies in Trenton, Florida were killed in the line of duty on Thursday.
Around 4 p.m., the deputies, with the Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office, were shot and killed in a suspected ambush, according to the Holmes County Sheriff's Office. FDLE is on the scene investigating.
The shooting occurred on SR-26 and East Wade Street in Trenton, Florida. Trenton is approximately two hours north of Tampa Bay.
No suspects are at large, according to the Gilchrist County Sheriff's Office.
GILCHRIST COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE has suffered a terrible tragedy. Please avoid the area of SR 26 from the red light to the area of subway. No suspects are at large. Further updates will be posted later.

Around 5:20 p.m., Florida Governor Rick Scott announced that he has been briefed by Gilchrist County Sheriff Bobby Schultz on the shooting. "I’ve offered any state support they may need," he wrote in a tweet.
No additional information on the circumstances surrounding the shooting have been released at this time.
Several law enforcement agencies across Florida began offering their condolences and support to the Gilchrist County Sheriff's Department.
