SARASOTA, Fla. - Police say a vehicle hit a woman pushing a baby stroller across a road in Sarasota.
Sarasota police spokeswoman Genevieve Judge said in a news release the child was flown to a hospital shortly after the Tuesday morning crash. The woman, later identified as the child's grandmother, was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver stayed at the scene and was cooperating with authorities.
The crash happened along U.S. 301 in Sarasota.
The 1-year-old child is in stable condition at All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg.
Charges are not expected for the driver. Charges for the grandmother are possible. The crash remains under investigation.
