Young boy found wandering in Sarasota

UPDATE (10AM) -- Sarasota Police say they have located the parents of the wandering child, and do not plan to file charges.

Investigators say the child was having a sleepover at a family member's home and walk out through an unsecured door.

SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) - Police in Sarasota are looking for the parents or guardians of a young boy found wandering near an apartment complex.

In a news release, police say a woman walking near the Lexington Apartments found the boy around 5:30 a.m. Friday.

The child is believed to be between 1 and 2 years old.

The woman took the child to a nearby fire station.

Officers say the child is safe and with police officers.

An investigation continues.
