Stolen truck pulled from Cape canal

Posted

CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Cape Coral Police responded to the canal off Old Burnt Store and Embers Parkway Friday in reference to a stolen vehicle.

Police, detectives and forensics scanned the canal while a tow truck pulled a blue Dodge pick-up out of the water.

Cape police told Fox 4 they got a call about the truck in the canal. They said no one was inside and the vehicle was stolen.

People who live in the area said the criminal activity, in an area they think of as safe, scares them.

Cape resident, Lee York, told Fox 4 it makes him nervous.

"It's a little frightening actually. My grandchildren live a couple miles over in that direction, so, any criminal activity that goes on that close to their home is scary."

Cape police said in the incident report that the truck seemed "overly clean" inside. Forensics wasn't able to find fingerprints.

York told Fox 4 he hopes the police find who stole the truck and dumped it near his neighborhood;

"I want them to face the consequences."
