Study says Sanibel the smartest city in Florida

Posted

LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- One of the many qualities that people look for in a potential location or company is the intelligence of those around them. And according to a new study, you can't find anything better in Florida than Sanibel.

A new report by Zippia, a site dedicated to careers, has ranked Sanibel as the smartest city in Florida, out of 215 cities. The study focused on criteria like the high school dropout rate and adults with at least a high school degree for each city in Florida.

But those behind this study say they are not calling other cities dumb.

According to Zippia, numbers show that only 1.2% of Sanibel's 6,761 residents had no high school diploma.

Just below Sanibel on the list, which is dominated by smaller, coastal towns, is Neptune Beach near Jacksonville at #2, and Gulf Breeze near Pensacola at #3.

The next-highest ranked Southwest Florida city was Fort Myers Beach, at #14.
