Suspect arrested for robbing same Cape Coral store twice

CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- A Cape Coral man is facing charges after robbing a Winn Dixie store twice in three days.

39-year-old Brian Vargas is now facing multiple charges, including armed robbery and aggravated assault.

Police say that on Thursday last week, he stole cash from a cash register at the store on Cape Coral Parkway, injuring a 71-year-old clerk in the process.

Just two days later at the same store, Vargas reportedly pushed a clerk and stole $300.

Cape police and the Lee County Sheriff's Office units later located Vargas at the Lowe's store on Pine Island Road and arrested him.

  • Battery on a Person over 65 Years of Age
  • Aggravated Assault w/a Deadly Weapon
  • Resisting an Officer Without Violence
  • Uttering Forged Checks (13 counts)
  • Driving on a Suspended License (Knowingly)
