Suspect sought for breaking into phone store

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. -- Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help identifying an unknown suspect who smashed through the front window of a Lehigh Verizon store last month.

According to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, in the early morning hours of February 16th, an unidentified male used what is believed to be a sledge hammer to gain entry to the Verizon Wireless Store on Lee Boulevard.

Knowing he only had a few minutes to roam through the business, since the alarm was activated, he quickly grabbed two phones from the display case – one of which was a demo phone and cannot be activated.  He then kicked in the door to the store’s main office, and retreated moments later with nothing else in hand.  Detectives believe the suspect was in the store for less than two minutes.

Surveillance cameras throughout the store captured images of the suspect, who made off with less than $400 in merchandise, but caused more than $1,000 in damage.

Anyone with information on his identity and whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).  All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.  Tips may also be made online at www.swflcrimestoppers.org or by texting a tip to CRIMES (274637) Keyword: REWARD.
