Teen found dead in Fort Myers park

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- A family is searching for answers after an 18-year-old was found dead at a park in Fort Myers, Saturday morning.

According to relatives, Jimmie Lee Davis left his house with a friend, Friday night, before he never came back. Fort Myers Police officers found his body in a nature preserve at the Billy Bowlegs Park near Marsh Avenue around 7:30 a.m. on Saturday. "He's only 18 years old," said his aunt Tracey Williams. "He hasn't even had a chance at life."

The discovery stunned those who live in the neighboring community, even though they said violence is a common occurrence. "It's kind of crazy because it's a little too close to home, but it wouldn't be strange because stuff just goes on every day like this," said one neighbor.

Officials still have not given a cause for his death, but with recent violence involving teens throughout Fort Myers, Davis's family questioned when it would end. "He was a good kid, he was not a problem child," said Williams. "I just don't understand. You know he's got siblings he left behind and his mom and dad. It's just senseless."
