Asia Fest attracted a large crowd on Saturday to celebrate Eastern Culture in Naples. The Naples Asian Professional Association put on a variety of cuisine, vendors, and cultural performances drawing people from all around Florida.

A glimpse of Asian culture was revealed with every beat, costume, and dish. An event Naples Mayor John E. Sorey, III says compliments the area.

"Our community is able to experience diverse culture and I think that's great for Naples," Mayor Sorey said. "It's important for our youth to learn about different cultures."

Many in attendance drove hours just to make it to the festival.

"We're actually from Sarasota and we came to Naples just for this. I want my kids to learn more about Asian culture."

Organizers of the event say Asian Fest is a way the community can celebrate the Lunar New Year, an event similar to Christmas time, but for the Eastern world.

"It's also called Spring Festival," an organizer said. "It's a time that family gets together, you enjoy the food and enjoy the company."

Proceeds from the event will go towards the Naples Asian Professionals Association College Scholarship fund, as well as other local non-profit educational programs.
