Tensions boiled over at a town hall meeting in Cape Coral Friday night.

Rep. Francis Rooney (R-Florida) started the conversation about health care.  He promised he wouldn't repeal the Affordable Care Act unless the new plan covers people with pre-existing conditions.

But things meandered by the middle of the meeting.

"Will you support extending equal opportunity to LGBT people so that they cannot be discriminated against,"? asked one audience member.

"I do have a little trouble with the idea with of a self determining person on an hourly basis," replied Rooney.

Rooney defended his opposition to de-funding Planned Parenthood, and was greeted with a mix of cheers and boos.

The conversation turned to President Trump.

"Answer the question,do you think the president should show us his tax returns," asked Bessie McCaffrey of Ft. Myers.

"We all have opinions, you didn't hire me to express my opinions about something I can't do anything about," said Rooney.

Congressman Rooney also told the audience he wants to see the results of a congressional investigation before commenting on President Trump's ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
