LEE COUNTY, Fla.- The wait is over. Star Wars, The Force Awakens is finally open in theaters and fans from all over Southwest Florida poured into local theaters to see the first screenings.
At Edison 8 in Fort Myers, managers have beefed up security. They've added extra law enforcement and security guards throughout the theater. They encourage fans to dress in costume but say they could be checked before entering the theater.
Some fans love the film so much, they plan to say their "I do's" at the theater in full Star Wars theme.
"I can't believe she let me do it so all the thanks to her for going through this madness with me . The first movie I ever saw when I was 2 years old was empire strikes back so I've been in love with Star Wars since I can remember," Jeremy Post said.
The Star Wars wedding at Star Wars party will be held at Edison 8 Cinemas starting Friday at 7 p.m.
