Thousands celebrate Freedomfest

The sky cleared in just enough time for thousands to crowd into downtown Ft. Myers Monday night for the annual Freedomfest 4th of July celebration.

“The 4th is a good one because we can all come together and enjoy that we’re all free in America and everyone is just awesome right," said Steve Romano, who drove down from Orlando.

Afternoon thunderstorms were not enough to scare the crowds away.

"Every year we have rain, every year.  We'll sill have a good show.  We usually have a good turnout." Jeff Muench, general manager of the Firestone Bay Street.

Muench said many restaurants had a good day, on what would otherwise be a slow Monday.
