Red tide causing beach hazard statement from Lee through Sarasota counties

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. – The National Weather Service in Ruskin says a Beach Hazards statement remains in effect through Thursday evening for parts of the Southwest Florida coast.

They warn of possible respiratory irritation in some coastal areas.  Symptoms may include coughing, sneezing, and tearing eyes.

Red tide respiratory irritation is possible Tuesday and Wednesday in the following locations:

  • Coastal Sarasota County
  • Coastal Charlotte County
  • Bay regions of southern Charlotte County
  • Coastal Lee County
  • Bay regions of northern and central Lee County
