CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. -- The latest test results from Florida Fish and Wildlife shows a flare-up of red tide around the mouth of Charlotte Harbor.
According to their Daily Sample Map on Friday, high concentrations of red tide have been detected in Boca Grande Pass and in Gasparilla Sound, as well as several miles off Captiva and Sanibel islands.
Medium concentrations of red tide have been detected offshore of Boca Grande, and south of Sanibel.
The entire east coast of the state is free of red tide, according to tests, but blooms are still active in the panhandle, between Pensacola Beach and Apalachicola.
