Vehicle vs. pedestrian crash in Port Charlotte

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla.-  A car vs. pedestrian crash has lead to a male pedestrian being flown to Lee Memorial Hospital. 

According to the Florida Highway Patrol website, a call come in around 3:15 PM for a crash involving a female driver who hit a male in his late 40's - early 50's. 

The driver was headed southbound on Hinton Street approaching Larverne Avenue, the pedestrian was in the southbound roadway when the vehicle struck the pedestrian. 

The male was flown to Lee Memorial Hospital with life- threatening injuries.  The Florida Highway Patrol website has the crash listed as a possible fatality but there is no confirmation the victim has died.

Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the scene, the area of Laverne Avenue, Hinton Street, and Tappen Zee Drive has been reopened.  

UPDATE 5/10 -- The victim has been identified as 31-year-old Seth Lippson of Port Charlotte.

The driver of the vehicle has been cited with Failure to Use Due Care.
