Watch: Potential burglars stopped by cameras

Posted

LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- A Lehigh Acres homeowner can thank their home surveillance system for thwarting a possible burglary earlier this week.

Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers believes the two men in the video may be responsible for a recent rash of residential daytime burglaries in Lehigh, and are looking for help identifying them.

On Monday morning around 10:45 a.m., the surveillance video show two black males arriving at a home in the area of Meadow Road and Sunshine Boulevard South in Lehigh.  After pulling up in a black or dark colored Honda, with a primer grey hood, they meandered to the front of the home.  One of the men immediately noticed an outdoor security camera, and motioned to his partner to retreat back to the car.

Detectives believe the men had been casing the home, and may be responsible for several recent home burglaries in the area which have all occurred during the daytime, when residents are typically at work.

Anyone with information on the identities of the two men is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).  All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.  Tips may also be made online at www.swflcrimestoppers.org or by texting a tip to CRIMES (274637) Keyword: REWARD.
