FORT MYERS, Fla. - We're now learning what happened during a fatal accident in Fort Myers that witnesses say killed a pregnant Cape Coral woman.
The deadly crash happening just after 6:30pm Wednesday near the intersection of U.S. 41 and Pine Drive North. That's right by Page Field.
Florida Highway Patrol says a southbound pickup truck struck 26-year-old Brittni Gemmell when she stepped off the median and into the truck's path. The truck's driver did not have time to slow or stop before hitting the woman.
Witnesses on scene say Gemmell was pregnant.
The crash forced the road to be shut down for hours.
