Neighbors along Byron Avenue watched on television today as Cape Coral detectives finally got their man in a double murder which gained national attention 26 years ago. They were shocked to hear Joesph Zieler's name announced.
"We were kind of shocked and surprised because the name they said on the news it just blew me away. I never thought he's capable of doing something like that but he did apparently," said Jonathan Gallimore, who has lived on the block for the past decade.
Neighbors say everyone keeps to themselves on this quiet street. They used to see Zieler riding his motorcycle with his girlfriend and kept their distance. Neighbors like Gallimore couldn't get over this happening so close to home.
"This is here is a little weird because you see this on TV happening everywhere and you say, 'Glad it's them and not me,' Well now it's me. but what can you do," said Gallimore.
