PUNTA GORDA, Fla. — The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting in Punta Gorda.
It all started with a domestic violence call Tuesday morning.
Sheriff Bill Prummell said deputies responded to a home on Wilson Drive where a suspect had battered his girlfriend.
Deputies attempted to locate the man throughout the day and around 5pm deputies were called back out to the home on Wilson drive because shots were fired.
The Sheriff says that the father of the girlfriend showed up at the home to confront the boyfriend and that's when he allegedly went out to his car and got a gun.
The 50 year old father was shot in the back and transported to the hospital.
The Sheriff's office is now questioning the boyfriend.
The investigation continues.
