FHP says one dead in early morning hit-and-run; tips needed

The Florida Highway Patrol says one person has died following a hit and run traffic crash that occurred Wednesday morning.

State Troopers continue to conduct a criminal investigation into the hit and run traffic fatality that happened on US-41 and Constitution Boulevard in Fort Myers, early Wednesday. Last night, troopers found the second hit-and-run vehicle (2014 Chevrolet Malibu with damage to the left front) at an apartment parking lot in Fort Myers.

Troopers and LCSO found the first suspect vehicle (2005 Nissan Altima with significant front and windshield damage) in a parking lot in Fort Myers.

UPDATE 7:30AM

The Florida Highway Patrol said one person has died following a hit and run traffic crash, Wednesday morning.
Troopers said the crash happened at US-41, north of Constitution Boulevard, in Fort Myers.

Investigators are looking for an unknown car - possibly two - that hit an adult on the travel lanes of
northbound US 41.

That person was transported to an area hospital and later pronounced deceased.

Anyone with information regarding this crash is asked to contact Crimestoppers or FHP.

The scene is clear.

ORIGINAL:

The Lee County Sheriff's Office said it is investigating a crash on Tamiami Trail and Constitution Boulevard, Wednesday morning.

LCSO was able to confirm injuries, but not the severity nor how many people are involved.

They said they were called around midnight.

There is a road closure in the northbound lane of US-41, as of 4:30 a.m. We have a team headed there to learn more.
