LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- The week-long dispute over high school football referee contracts is over in Lee County.

The School District of Lee County announced Friday that and agreement with the referee union has been reached, and games will be played as scheduled beginning next week.

The District and the South Gulf Football Officials Association (SGFOA) came to an agreement that includes the SGFOA honoring the terms of the contract it signed with the schools last May.

The district says they look forward to putting this behind them and getting out onto the field for the sake of the athletes, coaches, band members, cheerleaders and fans.

You can catch Fox 4's coverage of local high school games on Friday Football Frenzy starting August 23rd at 11:15pm.
