The World Series is now a best-of-five.
With the series tied at one game apiece it's anybody's series, and in Game 3 both the Tampa Bay Rays and L.A. Dodgers will throw ace-caliber pitchers.
The Rays turn to the man they've counted on time and time again in big games. Charlie Morton gets the ball after allowing just one earned run through three starts this postseason.
In 15.2 playoff innings, Morton has allowed 11 hits while striking out 17 and delivering his team three victories. Morton's 0.57 playoff ERA is exactly what the Rays were hoping for when they signed the veteran right-hander to a 2-year deal last season.
On the other side, the Dodgers have a man who has also been very impressive this postseason. Walker Buehler through four starts this postseason has posted a 1.89 ERA and is coming off a 6-shutout inning performance against the Atlanta Braves in the NLCS. In fact, Buehler hasn't given up more than two earned runs in a game since August 15.
L.A. took the first game of the series,8-3, before Tampa Bay came storming back with a6-4 Game 2 victory.
Perhaps the most exciting part of that Game 2 win for Rays fans is the prospect that Brandon Lowe may have busted out of his slump. Lowe was the Rays best hitter all regular season, but has run into a rough patch during the playoffs; that is until he hit two homers Wednesday night.
If the Rays can get him going, along with the production Randy Arozarena has provided, they have to feel good about the direction the offense is going.
First pitch of Game 3 is Friday night at 8:08 p.m. on FOX 4
