El Nino with Jim Cantore

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), El Niño is a disruption of the usual ocean-atmosphere system in the Tropical Pacific. These changes can have devastating consequences for weather and climate across the United States.

While flooding may be the last thing on residents’ minds this winter, years of drought and wildfires along the Pacific Coast coupled with a strong El Niño could actually cause serious flooding. Additionally, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicts above-average rainfall in areas along the Gulf Coast and Southeastern United States. Therefore, consumers are urged to better understand their flood risk and learn how to protect what matters with a flood insurance policy.
