Posted

At the age of 16, Gabriel Chavarria was playing basketball in a local Los Angeles park when he was discovered by Hollywood producers holding auditions for a new film. After initially turning down the opportunity to audition, Gabriel reconsidered (at the advice of his big brother) and ultimately earned a role in the critically acclaimed film Freedom Writers starring Oscar®-winner Hillary Swank -- which marked the start of a bright new career.

Next up, the young actor has three starring roles in major upcoming films including the drama Lowriders with Eva Longoria and Oscar® nominee Demian Bichir; the action thriller Hunter Killer with Gerard Butler, Gary Oldman and Common; and War for the Planet of the Apes, in which he plays one of only two humans in the film alongside Woody Harrelson.

Gabriel can now be seen in Hulu's original series East Los High, one of the first series to explore the lives of Latino teens coming of age in East L.A. One of the most popular series on Hulu, East Los High returns for a fourth season with an addictive mix of love, dance, sex and true-to-life drama. Gabriel reprises his role as Jacob, the guy next door who strives to do the right thing, but his good-hearted nature conflicts with a secret affliction.
