PUNTA GORDA, Fla. -- A brush fire in the Tropical Gulf Acres community is threatening several homes Thursday.
The fire broke out in the area of Pasadena Drive.
According to Charlotte County officials, the fire is approximately 12 acres and was 50% contained as of 2:21 p.m. Five structures are threatened by the fire.
Pasadena Drive is closed to traffic, as are Morningside Drive and St. Yves Drive off Tamiami Trail.
Charlotte County Fire and the Florida Forest Service are on scene with helicopter support.
