NAPLES, Fla. --- The Florida Division of Forestry are planning a Greenway Wildfire burnout Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m.
The fire line will be from US 41 at Tomato Road and will be extended east for 7 miles. According to Florida Highway Patrol the burn-out is expected to last approximately 4 hours.
I-75 (Alligator Alley) and State Road 29 will remain open during the closure.
The planned burnout preparation process will cause US41 to be closed at:
- Eastbound traffic closed on US 41 at Manatee Road
- Westbound traffic closed on US 41 at State Road 29
- US 41 at Port of the Isle closed to prevent any westbound traffic
- San Marco Road (CR92) will be closed for all northbound traffic to US 41
Due to this closure, parents are encouraged to pick up their child(ren) by 12:30 p.m. Normal bus services to the affected area will not be available today and children who ride the bus must be picked up.
These road closures will affect the regular dismissal time at the following schools:
- Everglades City School
- Lely Elementary School
- Lely High School
- Manatee Elementary School
- Manatee Middle School
- Marco Island Academy
- New Beginnings Phoenix
Drivers are encouraged to find an alternate route.
